The BTR-82A entered Russian service in 2013 as the latest member of a wheeled carrier family that goes back to the 1960s. It is an eight by eight with all wheels driven, it swims using a waterjet at the rear, and unlike its predecessors it carries a stabilised 30 mm 2A72 cannon in a proper turret with a thermal sight, which means it can shoot accurately while moving. Spall liners and extra armour were added to improve crew survivability. On MCS the BTR is the road runner of the ground fleet. It covers ground far faster than anything tracked, gets a squad across the map quickly and can fight light vehicles and infantry when it arrives. Off road and in mud it struggles, and its armour will not stop a serious anti tank weapon. Recommended for players who value speed and mobility over protection.
