The Su-34 entered Russian service in 2014 and is the strike development of the Flanker, but the front of the aircraft is entirely new. The crew sit side by side rather than in tandem, inside an armoured titanium capsule with walls up to seventeen millimetres thick, and they climb in through a hatch in the nose gear bay. Behind the seats there is room to stand, plus a galley and a toilet, because missions were expected to last many hours. It carries around eight tonnes of ordnance and has a rear facing radar to warn of threats behind. On MCS the Fullback is a long endurance bomber that can defend itself properly. It absorbs damage far better than any fighter, carries a serious load, and keeps enough Flanker performance to escape trouble. It will lose any turning fight. Recommended for deep strike missions and for pairs flying together.
