The Khrizantema-S is a Russian tank destroyer on a BMP-3 chassis, accepted into service in 2005. Its missiles can be guided two ways at once: one channel rides a laser beam, the other is guided automatically by a millimetre wave radar. The radar channel is the important one, because it works through smoke, dust, fog and darkness, conditions under which every laser or optically guided system is blind. The launcher retracts into the hull when not in use, and it can engage two targets simultaneously. On MCS the Khrizantema-S is the answer to opponents who rely on smoke and concealment. It kills armour at long range in conditions where nothing else can see, and its low, retractable launcher means it shows very little while waiting. The vehicle itself is lightly armoured and it has almost nothing for close defence. Recommended for prepared ambush positions.
