The Super Hornet entered US Navy service in 1999 as a larger redesign of the original Hornet, with a bigger wing, rectangular intakes and about a third more internal fuel. Its defining trait is behaviour at high angle of attack: the large leading edge extensions keep airflow attached over the wing far past the point where most fighters depart, so the pilot can haul the nose around and stay in control. It also carries the buddy refuelling store that keeps the rest of the air wing flying. On MCS the E model is a dependable close range fighter and a solid bomb truck. Pointing the nose at very low speed is genuinely useful in a scrap, and the airframe is stable enough that new pilots do not fall out of the sky learning it. It is not fast in a straight line. Recommended for players who want reliability across every mission type.
