The LF-22 Starling borrows from experimental rocket planes: a thin fuselage, tiny wings and a rear mounted booster that dumps a burst of thrust on command. With the boost lit it is faster than anything else in the base game hangar, and it recharges after a short cooldown. Armament is machine guns and homing missiles. The trade is wing area, and those small surfaces give it poor sustained turn performance and a heavy sink rate once the speed decays. On MCS the Starling is an interceptor rather than a dogfighter. It crosses the map to a contested point in seconds, takes one high speed pass at an enemy aircraft and boosts back out before anyone has turned to face it. Committing it to a circling fight usually ends with it stalling into the ground. Recommended for pilots who like hit and run timing and can resist the urge to stay for a second lap.
