The F-15I, whose name means Thunder, entered Israeli service in 1998. Twenty five were delivered as Strike Eagle airframes and then fitted with Israeli systems: a domestic electronic warfare suite, a helmet mounted cueing system, local navigation and weapons integration, and provision for indigenous munitions. The purchase was driven by a requirement to strike targets at long range without refuelling support. On MCS the Ra'am is the deep strike Eagle. It carries the load and the fuel of an F-15E and adds a targeting and defensive fit that makes it harder to engage on the way in and out. It is a two seat aircraft that flies best with a second player handling sensors and weapons. Like every Eagle it is large, thirsty when pushed, and no match for a light fighter in a slow turning contest. Recommended for planned long range strike missions.
