MCS booted for the first time on 2 September 2023 at 22:00. The idea was ours, the server was empty, and it stayed empty for eight days.
The server went live at ten at night running something nobody else was running: military aircraft, instant spawns, and a fight that starts the moment you connect. No queue, no roleplay economy, no grind before you are allowed to fly. Just the aircraft and whoever else was online.
Eight days after the first boot, ten people were flying at the same time. The Discord passed a hundred members on the same day. That was the point it stopped being a private project and became something we had to keep running.
The format worked, so it got copied. Other servers cloned the concept down to the menus. More than one offer came in to buy MCS outright. We turned them down and kept building it ourselves.
There were months when five people connected in a day. The server crashed, sometimes for days at a time. None of the last three years has been a straight line up, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.
MCS 4.0 is the fourth rebuild. 93 vehicles, matchmade lobbies that provision a spare before the current one fills, ranked matches, a rewritten radar and combat system, and an interface in 17 languages.
It comes back
Every time the server went down it came back, and every rebuild shipped with more than the version before it. That is the whole record, and it is the only promise worth making.
MCS was created and is run by L3onardo, who wrote the original server and still writes most of it. There is no studio behind this and no publisher. Questions, bug reports and ban appeals all go to the same place.
