On the server
The Gepard entered German service in 1976 on a modified Leopard 1 tank chassis. It carries two 35 mm Oerlikon cannons firing 550 rounds a minute each, a search radar on the turret rear and a separate tracking radar at the front, plus an optical sight for when radar use would give the position away. It was retired by Germany in 2010 and then found a second life, because a radar directed gun turns out to be far cheaper and more effective against small drones than any missile is. On MCS the Gepard is the anti air system that does not run out. Guns instead of missiles means a magazine measured in hundreds of rounds, and the twin cannons will also shred any light vehicle unlucky enough to be in front of it. Its range is short compared with missile systems. Recommended for defending a fixed position against aircraft and drones.
