The Z-21 is the newest Chinese attack helicopter to appear in public, developed by Harbin as a heavier companion to the existing Z-10. Photographs show a tandem cockpit, a mast mounted sensor above the rotor head, a chin turret and stub wings with multiple stations, along with a fuselage noticeably larger than the Z-10, which points at more fuel, more armour and heavier weapons. Almost no official specification has been released and its service status is unconfirmed. On MCS the Z-21 fills the heavy gunship slot on the Chinese side of the hangar. It flies like a large, well protected attack helicopter: steadier than the Z-10 class, harder to bring down, slower to change direction, and built around finding targets from cover using the mast sensor.
